Come to the Cepeda Branch Library for a fun, family event this coming Saturday!
Arrive early to pick up your baby Bur oak or Carolina buckthorn sapling, learn about how to plant and care for it, and stick around to learn about medicinal uses of Texas trees from medicine woman Marika Alvarado. Try one of Marika’s cookies made from mesquite bean flour. Enjoy tree-themed stories in Spanish and English and participate in tree crafts and activities at TreeFolks education table.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, a supporter of Sapling Day, will also be on hand to speak with community members.
Sapling Days began more than 15 years ago as a way to celebrate autumn and early winter — the best times to plant trees in Texas! Funding for Sapling Days is generously provided by Randalls, The Apache Corporation, Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, and TreeHouse.
