TreeFolks will give away 400 trees to eligible Austin Energy customers at the Sunset Valley Farmers’ Market on December 12 from 9 am to 1 pm. This event was originally scheduled for Halloween, but we had to cancel because of the terrible flooding the day before. Luckily, we were able to reschedule the giveaway!
TreeFolks will have on hand a selection of native and well adapted trees chosen for their drought hardiness and seasonal beauty, including favorites such as Red Oak and Mexican Plum as well as harder to find specimens as available.
To be eligible for a free tree through this program, you must be an Austin Energy customer with room in your yard for additional trees, which we’ll determine using aerial imagery. These trees will help shade our streets and reduce summer time temperatures. Please bring a copy of your utility bill or a driver’s license to show residency. This free tree giveaway event is brought to you in partnership with the City of Austin and is sponsored by Apache Corporation.
