Volunteer with TreeFolks to Help Plant Native Trees at the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve
We will be planting 50 trees at the JJT preserve to help restore its ecosystem and increase species diversity. JJT is a 1700-acre tract that is part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, located at 15001 Kollmeyer in Lakeway just off of RR 620.
The Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (BCP) is one of the nation’s largest urban preserves, protecting more than 32,000 acres of endangered species habitat. It is a system of preserves managed by a diverse group of public and private partners; the majority is managed by Travis County and the City of Austin. About 3,500 acres of the BCP are regularly open to the public—click on individual tracts to learn more. Other areas can be accessed by joining a guided hike or by volunteering. Here is the BCP website if you want to learn more.
TreeFolks will provide all materials needed including gloves, tools, water, and snacks. Please bring a water bottle, dress for working outdoors, and take breaks when you need to!
Thank you so much to ERM for sponsoring this event!
