CommuniTrees

CommuniTrees is a grant program that offers trees and planting expertise to volunteer groups planning tree planting projects on a variety of public lands. Since 1992, CommuniTrees has provided thousands of trees to schools, churches, green-spaces and housing projects all over the Austin area.

TreeFolks provides trees, design assistance, tools, training, educational materials, planting supervision and instructions for the long-term care of the trees.  Recipients provide volunteers and tree maintenance for at least 2 years after planting.

If you have a group of dedicated people that can plant, water and maintain trees for at least 2 years, you may submit a tree grant application for the 2011-2012 planting season.  For more information, please contact carly@treefolks.org.

Program Update:
TreeFolks is reorganizing the structure of its programs and services. CommuniTrees will be unavailable until further notice.  We plan to continue offering trees and planting support to community groups and will relaunch as soon as possible.

Are you a past CommuniTrees participant?  We would love to hear about your experience.  How did the experience build relationships, improve use of an outdoor space, increase wildlife habitat, or contribute to your curriculum?

Please send your stories, comments and photos to: shade@treefolks.org.
