TreeFolks offers classes and workshops that focus on topics including tree care and maintenance, fruit tree pruning, and tree identification. Recent events include tree identification walks downtown and along Shoal Creek and a fruit tree pruning class at the Urban Roots Farm where participants learned the basics of fruit tree care, had a hands-on lesson pruning mature fruit trees and made fig tree cuttings to plant at home!
Urban Forest Steward
The City of Austin Urban Forestry program and TreeFolks present the Urban Forest Steward Series of workshops focused on building and protecting the urban canopy of Central Texas. Drought, invasive species and habitat degradation constantly take a toll on Austin’s parks and natural areas. The goal of the Urban Forest Steward Series is to equip a cadre of citizens to help us gain ground in rebuilding our urban forest through education and volunteer leadership. For more information about the fall 2012 series visit the Urban Forest Steward page.
