Sapling Days is a program that TreeFolks has conducted for over ten years.  It started to dispel the popular notion that trees should be planted in the spring along with the tomatoes, peppers and marigolds.  In fact, in the Southwest the best tree survival occurs when trees are planted in the fall.  And what better way to encourage people to plant trees than to GIVE TREES AWAY?

For the first several years of the program 500 trees were given away at a single event in downtown Austin.  The program has grown to the point that TreeFolks gives away 2500 tree seedlings at multiple separate events all over Central Texas.  This year we'll be giving away Bald Cypress and Japanese Loquat seedlings.

Sapling Days has been operating for enough years that now, as we hand out new trees, we also receive reports on the progress of Sapling Days trees from past years: ‘Last years tree is as tall as me’, ‘My tree from three years ago is even with my roof’, etc..  If you’d like to support Sapling Days please Contact us or go straight to the Donate page.
