  • Post-Fire Habitat Restoration

    Thanks to individual donations and generous sponsorship by Apache Foundation, TreeFolks will be distributing free trees to Bastrop area residents affected by the recent wildfires. See attached agenda for more information.

  • Ready, Set, Plant! South Barton Springs Sapling Planting

    January 14, 2012 @ 9:00 am

    Location: South Barton Springs - Robert E. Lee Road, Austin, TX 78704

    Details: Between drought, invasive species and habitat degradation, Austin's parks and natural areas have taken a beating. Ready, Set, Plant! is a partnership between the City of Austin and TreeFolks to plant small saplings that will not require irrigation. Planting saplings will enable us to restore native tree and shrub diversity during the drought while respecting Stage II & III watering restrictions. We'll provide the trees and shovels. You provide the smiles, muscle-power, and gloves (if you have them). Please wear close-toed shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. This event is one of many tree seedling plantings. Please consider signing up for more.

    Please Note:
    Ready, Set, Plant! events are tentative based on weather and soil moisture. We'll send out an email a few days prior to the event to let you know if it's still a GO. We do NOT cancel sapling planting events because of wet weather. A rainy day is a great day to plant trees!

  • Family Library Day: Mr. Tamarin's Trees

    Details: Bring the whole family out to celebrate the Texas tree-planting season. The little ones will love “Mr. Tamarin’s Trees, a puppet show by Literature LIVE! There will also be a Bonsai Craft program for teens and adults, along with altered book crafts for all ages presented by Recycled Reads. Snacks will also be provided.

  • Tree Talk, Winter Walk

    Location: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

    Details: Admission to the Wildflower Center is free for for their annual Tree Talk, Winter Walk - a fun day dedicated to TREES! Throughout the day there will be talks and demonstrations from local tree experts about tree care during drought, tree identification, historic trees of Texas, proper tree planting techniques, tree pruning, and oak wilt identification. Family activities include a Kids Tree Climb and a Tree Scavenger Hunt! At 11 a.m., TreeFolks Executive Director, April Rose, will give a talk and walk on tree identification and The Great Texas Tree Roundup.
